Fred Moffitt was born in Virden, Illinois in 1926 and attended Virden Illinois Grade and High Schools. At the age of seventeen Mr. Moffitt enlisted into the United States Navy and served as a Quarter Master in the Pacific Theater during WW II from 1944-1946. Upon returning from the Navy, he attended the University of Illinois School of Business.
Mr. Moffitt began his career in the finance business with Universal CIT, and later with the Bank of St. Louis in Texarkana, Texas where he was office manager. During this time he provided financing for many automobile dealers in the Texarkana area. In 1964, Mr. Moffitt entered into the automobile business when he acquired the Volkswagen franchise in Bossier City and built a new Volkswagen building. In 1974, he acquired Porsche, Audi and Mazda and is now in his 41st year of business.
Mr. Moffitt has served on the boards of Dealer Councils and many charitable organizations. Currently, he is serving on the Board of the Louisiana State Health Sciences Center Foundation in Shreveport. Mr. Moffitt has been president of the Shreveport/Bossier City New Car Dealers Association three times, and has been serving for several years as the State Chairman of the National Legislative Representative for the AIADA.
Mr. Moffitt and his wife, Willetta, are members of St. Joseph Catholic Church and have been married for 45 years. Together they have four children, Susan Moffitt Henson, Mary Anne Moffitt Green, Michael Moffitt and John Moffitt.
