Robert graduated from Cathedral High School, went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from USL in 1968 and began his automotive career at Lafayette Motor Co. He acquired controlling interest of the company in 1991 and has been President and Chairman of the Board since that time. He is also President and Chairman of the Board of Romco, Inc., a rental and leasing division of Lafayette Motor Co., formed in 1976.

Robert still finds time for his community and civic duties. For four consecutive years, he was named "Architect of Hope" by St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. He has served in various capacities on the Cathedral-Carmel School Board, The Children's Shelter, St. Thomas More Foundation, U.L. Alumni Assoc., United Way of Acadiana, Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, LADA, Lafayette Auto Dealers Assoc., Board of Crime Stoppers, LABI, Ragin Cajun Facilities, Inc., and was made an Affiliated Member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the highest award given by a religious order to a lay person. He has also served on the Chrysler/Plymouth Dealer Advisory Council for the New Orleans Zone since 1992, as well as the Jeep Dealer Advertising Council.

Robert and wife Coni have five children and eight grandchildren.
