Julian was born in Sabine Parish, and at the age of 10, he and his family moved to New Iberia. He graduated in 1968 from New Iberia High School, and four years later attained his accounting degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Upon graduation from Northwestern in 1972, he went to work for Mike Pearson in Many as a salesman. In 1975 he became a partner and then, dealer operator in 1988. The dealership originally sold Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth and GMC, but today represents Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick and GMC trucks.

Through the years, Julian served on numerous zone and regional dealer councils with General Motors. He served on the eight person GMC Full-Size Pickup/SUV Advisory Board for three years, and as President of the Ark-La-Tex GMC Advertising Group.
