Don has been in the automobile industry for over 49 years. From 1951 to 1962, he was involved in all aspects of business for the Chevrolet dealership in Lake Charles, working in parts, used car sales, as a used car manager, new car sales, as a new car manager, as a general sales manager, and as general manager . He was also general manager of Ed Taussig Ford in Lake Charles from 1963 to 1965, at which time he took ownership of a Ford dealership in Mobile, Alabama. He next moved to Crowley in June of 1968 to purchase the Ford dealership from Bill Cleveland. Since this time, he has been involved in the active management and ownership of dealerships in Crowley, Lake Charles, and Sulphur, Louisiana.

Don has belonged to the Crowley Chamber of Commerce since 1968 and is past board member. He also contributed to the Industrial Group between Rayne and Crowley.

Don has also been very active in both private and public schools in Acadia Parish. He has provided driver's education vehicles for the schools of Acadia Parish and is a major contributor to all athletic events.

Don has fostered the economic expansion of the parish at all times. While serving as the Chairman of the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for over 29 years, he has helped bring many grants and improvements to Crowley. He was also a member of the committee that initiated and wrote the current seat belt safety law.
