A native of Jena, Jimmie maintained Humphries Motors, Inc. for over 82 years of service at the same location where it was established by his grandfather, C.I. Humphries, in 1915. Humphries became a partner in 1954. In 1997, he was nominated to receive the 29th annual TIME Magazine Quality Dealer Award by Robert Israel, Executive Vice-President of LADA.

Jimmie was active in his community where he served as a member of the Private Industrial Council, American Tree Farmers, and LaSalle General Hospital Board of Directors. He also has been very active in the First Baptist Church of Jena and served as a Sunday school teacher, but found his past role as assistant Sunday school superintendent and Outreach Chairman to have been the most rewarding of all his civic duties.
