A president of A.K. Durnin Chrysler-Plymouth Jeep, Inc. and A.K. Durnin Leasing Corporation, Doug completed his term as 1992-93 President of the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association. Doug also served as LADA President-Elect in 1991-92 and Treasurer in 1990-91. Doug also served as chairman of the 1990 Annual Convention in Maine.

Doug served as an LADA Director for ten years and is currently a trustee of the LADA Self-Insurers' Fund for Workers Compensation and trustee of LADIT, Inc. In 1985, he was the Chairman of the LADA Dealer of the Year Award Program and in 1988, the Chairman of the Fall Business Conference.

Doug served as a board member and treasurer of the New Orleans Zone Chrysler-Plymouth council, and is a past member of the National Chrysler-Plymouth Dealer Council. He also was past president of the Baton Rouge New Car Dealers Association.
