Jimmy has been an automobile dealer for over 37 years. In the fall of 1955, Jimmy opened a new Chevrolet dealership in Algiers across the river from New Orleans. In 1959, he moved the dealership to a permanent facility in Metairie.

Among his achievements was serving on the Chevrolet Dealers Advisory Committee. Jimmy served as a member of NADA, LADA, Mitsubishi's Twenty Group and the Greater New Orleans Automobile Dealers Association, for which he served as president. He is also a former LADA Board member. Jimmy also served as a commissioner on the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission for over 27 and one-half years.

Jimmy and over 50 other top dealers in the country were recognized at the TIME Magazine Quality Dealer Award ceremonies during the 1993 NADA Convention in New Orleans.
